How Halotherapy Works
A halotherapy session tends to last 30 to 60 minutes. It begins with the client relaxing in the salt spa as fine salt particles are released into the air. As these particles make their way through the airway, they remove bacteria and other pollutants affecting the respiratory tract. As inflammation and mucus buildup is reduced, lung function is enhanced, and easier breathing ensues. This is a form of “dry” salt therapy which helps to remove toxins and impurities in the body similar to “wet” salt therapies like gargling or bathing in salt water.
As with most industries, technology has evolved and now we can offer the same health benefits of a salt cave in a more private setting of a booth. Halotherapy booths allow for shorter session times. A typical session in a salt cave or room is 45 minutes to an hour, and a session in a booth is 20 minutes. The privacy of a booth also allows you to expose more of your skin. Salt caves and rooms are chilled to keep humidity levels down; our booths are a comfortable room temperature or heated to your comfort level. We recommend shorts and a tank top or swimwear for the best effect on your skin. Our booths at Salt and Sound are equipped with a sound system so you can relax with guided meditation or soothing music.
